Emily’s POV.
I ran to my room, my footsteps echoing through the halls. My heart pounded in my chest as I flung open the door and slammed it shut behind me. I was trembling with rage, my fists clenched. I couldn’t believe what had just happened.
The rage coursed through me, making me tremble. How dare she put her hands on me, after everything I had done for her? No one in the pack had ever disrespected me like that. I was the alpha, and she had embarrassed me in front of everyone.
I stood before the mirror, my reflection staring back at me. My eyes were wild, my face flushed with anger. I took in a deep breath, trying to calm myself, but it was no use. I reached out and started flinging things across the room – brushes, perfume bottles, and jewelry went flying, shattering against the wall.
“My Lady!” I heard a maid cry, but I ignored her.

I looked at the maid, and a thought crept into my mind. “Call Alpha Kex for me,” I said, my voice low and dangerous. “But don’t let him know that I asked you to.”
The maid’s eyes widened, but she nodded. “Yes, my Lady.”
She bowed and scurried from the room. I knew what I was doing was wrong, but I didn’t care. I needed to see Kex, to see my pain and make them pay. I paced the room, waiting for him to arrive.
I heard footsteps in the hallway outside my room, and my heart started racing. I took the dagger from my waistband and brought it to my arm, slicing through my skin. I bit back a cry as I watched the blood well up from the wound.
The pain was sharp, but it was nothing compared to the emotional pain I felt. I let out a so b, the tears streaming down my face. The sound of the footsteps grew louder, and I could hear voices outside the door.
There was a sudden crash as my door was flung open, and I looked up to see Kex standing in the doorway. He rushed over to me, his eyes wide with concern.

“What’s wrong?” he asked, taking my hand in his. I couldn’t hold back the so bs any longer, and I broke down, my body shaking.
“Who called you, Kex?” I asked, trying to sound innocent.

“It doesn’t matter right now,” he said, placing his hand on my shoulder. “What matters is getting you taken care of.”
“I would rather not bother you,” I said, my voice cracking.
“Shh! You are not a bother, Emily,” he said, his voice gentle but firm. “Let me take care of you.””
He reached for the first aid kit in the wardrobe and set it down on the floor next to me. “Let me see,” he said, taking my hands in his.
I slowly let him turn my hands over, revealing the deep cut on my arm. “Oh, Emily,” he said, a note of sadness in his voice.
He began to clean and bandage the wound, his hands gentle and sure. “It’s going to be okay,” he said, his voice soft.
With his deft hands, he tied the bandage tight, and when he was done, he brushed the stray hairs from my face.
“Tell me,” he said, his voice hardening, “who did this to you?”
I looked up at him, my eyes pleading. “Please, Kex, don’t make me say it. I would rather not cause more trouble.”
He cupped my face in his hands, his eyes softening. “You are not causing trouble, Emily. I need to know who hurt you, so I can make sure they never do it again.”
“It’s Ne…lly,” I stuttered.
My words hung in the air between us, and Rex’s eyes widened in shock. He took a deep breath, trying to compose himself.
“What happened?” he asked, his voice steady.
I sat there, speechless, not knowing how to tell him the whole story. I didn’t know he would ask me for the entire story, and had not thought of one. I tried to take a breath, but my chest felt tight.

“Emily! It’s fine, stop crying here, I’m here just tell me what happened,” he said, wiping
my tears.
“Take a breath,” he said, his voice calm.
I felt a knot in my stomach, but I knew I had to tell him something. “She was jealous of our relationship,” I said. “It’s been this way since she got into the pack.”
“How dare she!” He said, clenching his fist together.
