Chapter 28

Chapter 28.

Alpha Kex’s POV.

I woke up with a throbbing headache, and my first thought was, “Where am I?” I looked around and realized I was in Nelly’s room. But Nelly was nowhere to be found.

I struggled to remember how I had gotten here. The last thing I remembered was eating. Had I passed out? Was I drugged? I tried to stand up, but my head swam, and I nearly fell back down.

Just then, the door opened and Nelly entered, a smile on her face. She held out a cup in

her hand.

“I brought this for you,” she said, her tone light and cheerful. “It will help with the headache.”

I took the cup from her and brought it to my lips, not knowing what to expect. The smell was pleasant, almost sweet. As I took a sip, the liquid slid down my throat, soothing my sore throat and easing the pounding in my head.

“What happened last night?” I asked, feeling a knot of apprehension in my stomach.

“I don’t know,” she replied, her voice low. “You were acting really strange. Almost like you were a different person.” She looked up at me, her expression neutral. “What do you remember?”

I shook my head. “Nothing. I feel like I have a hole in my memory.” She nodded, her gaze fixed on the floor. “Thank you,” I said, standing up to leave. “I will talk to you later.”

She didn’t look up, just murmured, “Okay.”

I opened the door and nearly collided with a figure that stumbled into the room. It was Emily, her face red with embarrassment. She was attempting to fix her clothes, which were in disarray.

“What are you doing here?” I asked, my voice stern. She looked at me with wide eyes.

“I came to check on you,” she said, her voice shaking. “You weren’t yourself last night.”

“So you were spying on us?” I asked, my anger rising.

“No, no,” she stammered, taking a step back. “I was just… I was worried, I was here yesterday.”

I turned away from her, my mind racing. I needed to find out what had happened. I
