Nelly’s POV.

The kiss between Alpha Kex and me was suddenly interrupted by the jarring sound of shattering glass. I flinched, startled by the unexpected noise.

Alpha Kex hurried to the door, he opened the door carefully, avoiding the shattered glass that littered the floor. He bent down and peered into the hallway, searching for the source of the noise. When he saw that no one was there, he sighed with relief and stood up straight.

“No one’s there,” he said, turning to me with a puzzled expression on his face.

“What was that?” I asked, my voice quivering with anxiety.

He shrugged, his face suddenly blank, devoid of emotion..

“Someone must have been spying on us,” he said, his voice betraying a hint of unease.

He quickly pulled on his shirt and trousers, his movements hurried and uncharacteristically clumsy. I nodded, a chill running down my spine.

I shook my head, my cheeks burning with embarrassment. “Me smiling? Oh! Nothing,” I blurted out, my voice betraying my nervousness.

He sighed, his features soft and resigned. “I’ll send a maid to clean this up,” he said, nodding towards the broken glass on the floor.
