Chapter 121 Xavier POV

"Well, that was a bust" I scowled, kicking at the grass and sensing my brother's eyes on me. "A complete waste of time. Heather Ramona is most definitely nowhere at this so-called club" I wrinkled my nose in disgust and glared over my shoulder while Xander nodded in

agreement.

"It could have been true though," Xander said loyally, attempting to calm me down.

I snorted. "It was false information. Just wait until I get my hands on that piece of shit that gave us the details" I mapped

I was going to wring his neck and make him sorry he had ever been born. We had wasted valuable time in tracking down what had turned out to be nothing more than a false lead. Great.

"Just calm down. It's no harm no foul" Xander said placidly "We'll just go back to the pack and check on Regan. There's nothing to worry about" he added with an exhale.

"I don't like it" I scowled. "I don't like that Heather Ramona is still out there somewhere, biding her time until we let downs our guard. Do you still have Isabelle under guard?" I asked, watching Xander's eyes turn dark at the mention of her name. "Yes" he answered darkly "and so far she hasn't made a move. I would have thought that a devoted mother would have tried at least once to steal in and see her child but so far, we've had no luck."

He sounded repulsed by the fact Heather hadn't attempted to break in to see her own daughter. I, however, was not surprised. Heather Ramona didn't care about anyone but herself and her own survival. Isabelle in a coma was not going to be enough to lure her back. "Well, she did abandon Isabelle, so it's no surprise there. Besides, she's not stupid. She'll know it's a trap" I grumbled, as we made it to the car, the driver opening the doors and ushering us inside.

"I know you've been visiting Isabelle," I said, crossing my arms and eyeing my brother as the car took off. "What exactly is it you are hoping to see or find? You know she's not going to wake from that coma" I pointedly added.

Her fate was already set in stone. Even if Xander tried to appeal on her behalf, I could not allow him to change what we and the elders had already decreed.

He shifted on the chair. "I know, I kind of" he hesitated "I go to check on the baby" he blurted out "Make sure it's okay, talk to them" he added, glancing away, a sheepish expression on his face.

"Talk to the baby?" my mouth dropped open in shock.

Of all the things I had envisioned my brother saying, it had not been that. So, it wasn't Isabelle he was going to see, but his child. I was surprised but didn't fault him. However, it was still a sore point for Regan, so I guessed he was keeping it under wraps.

Hopefully, he and Regan would be able to work things out before the baby was born. Both of them seemed to have their own personal issues when it came to dealing with Isabelle and Xander's unborn child. I didn't want to interfere but I knew it affected me as well. I too, would be expected to treat the child as my own. Something, I hated to admit, I wasn't entirely sure I could do. It was no wonder Regan was filled with self-doubt because if I had to be honest, I was filled with the same doubts and fears. A child was innocent but that didn't change the way I felt about the whole situation.
