Chapter 131

Celeste POV

“Fiona, I didn’t mean to…” my voice trails off as she looks at me sharply, her eyes narrowing at me.

She’s holding a piece of paper in her hand. I watch as her hand tightly clenches, crumpling it in her fist. She looks as though she’s in a state of disbelief. A myriad of expressions cover her face. Disbelief, Shock, Awe, and finally Happiness. I’m taken aback, expecting her to be furious but she’s almost dancing on the ground.

“Don’t pretend you didn’t tell me the truth unintentionally Celeste and insult my intelligence Celeste” she sneers as I shrug, letting the mask slip away.

It’s not as though my parents are there to see what I’m saying or doing anyway. Quite frankly, I’m ecstatic that Fiona is leaving. Now I don’t have to share anything and that includes becoming the leader of the pack. I knew my parents would come up with some sort of compromise, maybe make both of us Alphas of the pack if she remained. Now I didn’t have to concern myself with such a thing happening.

“Fine,” I said as she smirked at me, “So what if I did tell you? What do you care?” I sneer.

“I don’t,” she told me simply as my lips parted slightly in shock. “In fact, I want to thank you Celeste” she continued as I tried not to gape at her, “you finally convinced me to do what I’ve been thinking about all these years.”

“You should have left sooner,” I said icily. “Then you wouldn’t have had to be so miserable. We both hate each other, it’s not like I’ve made a secret about how I feel about you.”

She laughed. I scowled at her. Since when did she have the nerve to act so happy around me? Where was the fear, the apprehension she normally exhibited? She was acting as though she was suddenly fearless and I didn’t like it. I hadn’t made her life a complete misery for the last few years for her to suddenly act as though it meant nothing.
