The girl doesn’t know that my body can absorb drugs and sedatives a lot more quickly than the average shifter. As she tries to undo the zipper on my pants, my hand shoots up and I grab hold of her, twisting the hand viciously and grinning with satisfaction as I hear the sound of her bones breaking in her wrist. She screams, scrambling off of me instantly, holding her wrist to her chest and sobbing. I sit upright and she stares at me, the blood draining out of her face. She had not expected me to become suddenly sober.

“You…” she gasped, her lip quivering, “you were meant to…”

“Be out of it while you rape me?” I said with a hiss, standing up as she cowered backward from you. “Nice try but I’ve got some experience with women trying to do the same thing you did to me” I snarled, my eyes darkening slightly.

I moved and she staggered backward, hitting her back on a nearby dresser. I fought back my grin and stormed past, yanking the door open and heading out of the room, desperate for fresh air. I wondered where in the hell my Beta was, feeling frustrated that he hadn’t kept better eyes on me. I would have some choice words for him when I saw him next. Celeste might not have posed much of a threat, but that was still no reason for my Beta to get complacent. Bastard.

I moved back outside, the fresh air doing me good and allowing me to become far more focused. I remembered the girl, the one I had looked at before, certain that the delicious scent that wafted towards me had come from her, and glanced around the campfire. She was gone. I felt disappointment sweep through me. I scanned the crowd but she wasn’t dancing or socializing with the others either. Where could she have gone to? I sniffed, moving closer, getting the faintest hint of her scene,t and frowned. It was leading into the forest. Part of me began to feel a sort of inkling that something wasn’t right, even though I could not tell why that was. The girl looked as though she was capable of handling things on her own.
