Chapter 154

Celeste examined the dress with a narrowed eye as her friend Claudia stood there patiently, not sure if the black designer dress was appropriate for her birthday or it it would stand out enough as they stood inside the plush boutique, tapping her fingers thoughtfully against her chin. It was a difficult decision to choose a designer dress and one that Celeste didn’t make lightly. Everything had to be perfect for her birthday. She had to be the most beautiful woman there. Nobody else could compete with her tomorrow. It simply would not do. Not even her friends would dare to try and take her shine.

“Not good enough,” she decided as she looked more closely at the dress and nodded to herself, Claudia nodded eagerly in agreement. “It has to be special for when I’m announced as the new Alpha and leader of the pack.”

She was going to be taking center stage after all. Not to mention with all the Alpha’s there, she might even be able to seduce one, even for just one night. She wasn’t exactly some naive virgin like her stupid half–sister had been. Not anymore anyway. She knew what she wanted and she had no qualms about going after it.

“Hang on Celeste, is that…?” Claudia gasped as Celeste turned to her with a questioning gaze. “Is that your sister Fiona?” she asked slowly, pointing to none other than Fiona who had just stepped inside the boutique dressed in a plain maxi dress and sandals.

Privately Celeste thought she looked like a homeless person or at least her mental image of one. Trust Fiona to come to an upmarket place like this looking like that. It was repulse and insulting.

You’re nothing remember” she hissed as Fiona stared at her, the blood draining from her face. “Even with that mark on you,” she drawled, glancing meaningfully at Fiona’s neck and the tattoo that was freshly on it, “it doesn’t mean your mate isn’t capable of rejecting you. As for mother and father, well they’ve hardly expressed any sadness at your departure. In fact,” she leaned forward, her tone going dark, “they are grateful you chose to leave so they wouldn’t have to kick your sorry ass out of the pack when you failed to
