About an hour later, the doctor was examining Yvonne at the nearest hospital. He treated her scrapes and arranged for her to be admitted. She was hooked up to a sedative drip to help her relax.

Norton watched it all happen with great sorrow. As the nurse administered the drip to Yvonne, he stepped outside and called Leif.

When Norton stepped back into the room, he found Yvonne looking around in mild panic. “What is it? Are you hurt anywhere?” he asked in alarm, rushing to the bedside and clutching her hand.

But Yvonne seemed to calm down as soon as she saw him. “It’s nothing,” she muttered, forcing yet another smile.
