Chapter 1843

Odie thought Griffin was just shooting the breeze, not taking him seriously at all. But when the other groups started tearing into each other, Odie realized that despite being like brothers, the fight for survival would pit them against each other in a brutal competition.

Colby was something else—both sharp as a tack and strong as an ox, way beyond everyone else in their crew who were scraping by from the bottom of the barrel. Sometimes, Odie couldn't help but wonder where Colby really came from. He didn't fit the mold of a kid from the rough side of town. He was savvy, breezing through high society's manners and games like he was born to it, even outplaying the old hands.

Fiona, now even more intrigued, pressed further, "How did he do it?"

"Ask your dad," Odie replied, leaning back and clenching his teeth at the memory. Even after twenty years, he couldn't let go of the betrayal. They had always seen each other as brothers, making the betrayal cut deep. If Colby had just been a rival, they wouldn't have held a grudge for all these years.
