Chapter 1918

I always thought adults were just a bit dull, forever spinning tales of their youthful glory days. They often mentioned this enigmatic group called The Silent Shadows, and I imagined they were pretty intimidating. But after meeting Isaac, it turned out The Silent Shadows weren't all they were cracked up to be.

Out of the blue, Alec noticed that a bunch of people around us were giving us the once-over. Some were engrossed in newspapers on the street, others were casually sipping coffee in a café, and a few were just passersby chatting away. Their behavior was odd, yet every single one of them had their eyes glued to us with an intense stare.

Alec got this uneasy feeling. Could these folks be on to us already?

"Run!" Alec yelled, grabbing my hand and taking off at a sprint before I could even process what was happening. Those everyday people dropped whatever they were doing and started chasing us.

"Why are they after us?" I asked, gasping for air.

"Well, what do you think? Hanging around S Corporation's HQ like that was bound to get us noticed!"

"Hanging around? We were just standing there for a second!"
