The guy let out a creepy laugh. "You're not buying it? Go check out Room 1008 at Pinecrest Hotel. It'll blow your mind."

Then, he hung up.

How could that even be possible? But before I knew it, I was on my feet, grabbing my bag and rushing out the door.

Pinecrest Hotel was Ethan's go-to place. He even had a permanent room there. But why would he choose Room 1008?

I asked him once why he picked Room 1008, and he said it was my birthday. If he was cheating on me, why would he do it there? I couldn't figure out what he was up to. Half an hour later, I pulled up at Pinecrest Hotel. I took a deep breath, walked straight to the front desk, and asked for a key card to Room 1008.

Ethan had told the hotel to let me into the room anytime, so I had free access whenever I wanted.
