I froze. Was Murphy really that cruel toward Vivian, his own daughter? How could he treat her like that? Vivian sneered at my silence. "What? You're shocked speechless, are you? A tinge of sorrow flashed across her eyes when she said that. "Evelyn, I know you hate me. But do you know just how lucky you are compared to me? Zach is your biological son, and although he's in Murphy's hands for now, he still has a loving mother like you."
