"What do you want me to say?!" Emily exclaimed as she sobbed into her hands. "Do you want me to tell you that I was raped and would never be pregnant again if I aborted the baby?!"

She was Jansen's and Felicia's only daughter. Over the years, she had high self-esteem due to her dignified status as the daughter of the Phoenix Family. Yet, she didn't even know her child's father.

On the other hand, the expressions on Jansen's and Felicia's faces were complicated. They thought that they were here to interrogate Douglas about his affair, but this incident was beyond their wildest imaginations.

Jansen closed his eyes in regret. He seemed to have been blaming the wrong person after all these years.

After Felicia knew the truth, she cried with Emily and lamented, "My dear, why? Why didn't you tell us sooner?!"

After Nicole met up with Whitney, they chatted for a bit before returning to solemn silence.

She could see the determination in Whitney's eyes, and she knew that nothing she said would change her mind.

After she bid Whitney goodbye, she wanted to look for Colton, but she saw a tall figure as soon as she turned around.


Zachary's attire today was a little different from usual. He wore a black well-fitting bespoke suit that showed off his slender figure. In addition, he styled his hair with hairspray, which made him look a bit more mature and eye-catching.

A trace of astonishment flashed across Nicole's eyes as she had never seen him like this.

A young man popped out from behind Zachary, cheerily waved in greeting, and said, "Hello, Nicole!"

"Harvey? What are you doing here?"

As soon as she laid her gaze on Harvey, she greeted him warmly. He had always been a ball of sunshine but disliked attending such galas.

Harvey pouted sadly and whined, "Because my brother wants to take over my family's business, my mom called me home to cause a fuss."

Unfortunately, he was not interested in the so-called family business at all. He was highly aware that he was incompetent when it came to business management, so he decided to stay away from all the in-fighting.

Nicole was amused by his remarks and responded with a hearty laugh. She only managed to regain her composure after giggling for a few seconds.

Zachary looked a little burned out and forlorn. Still, he turned and glanced at Harvey, who immediately understood his hint and excused himself. "Tsk, tsk. Okay, I get it. I'll give you some privacy and take my leave first."

They weren't really in a quiet location, as people would walk past them from time to time. Nevertheless, Zachary didn't have any intention of moving away from this spot. After a while, he asked, "How are you?"

It was only at this moment did he realize that he didn't know what to say to her.

Nonetheless, she donned a polite smile on her face and nodded. "I'm fine. By the way, I saw the news. You've taken over your father's position and become your family's company's president."
