Chapter 697

After Evelyn heard her mother's words, her eyes immediately turned misty. She then grunted in dissatisfaction. "Mom, now is the time Colton needs someone to stay with him. Why don't you let me go?!"

Siobhan cast a cold glance at her daughter, who was a source of great embarrassment in the family. She mentioned indifferently, "Do you realize you've turned into a joke now? Stay at home and don't go anywhere for the time being! You can only leave the house once the issue dies down."

Evelyn bit her lip tightly in response. How could she not know that she had become a joke? It all happened because of Nicole. Nicole ordered Natalie to betray her and then pretended to let her go generously. Now, everyone in the city knew that the daughter of the Wrenn Family was a mean and despicable person.

Her eyes turned red due to anger, but she couldn't rebuke her mother, so she turned on her heels and stomped her way upstairs instead.

Gabriel watched Evelyn go upstairs and then turned his gaze to Siobhan, asking, "Mom, aren't you being too strict with Evelyn?"

She looked up at Gabriel. After all these years, her son hardly ever made her worry. Without relying on the family's financial resources, he started his own business from scratch and insisted on working tirelessly to build his own career. Later, his father enlisted him in the military, where he served for three years. After enduring such adversity, he never complained to her.

Why did her two children, Evelyn and Gabriel, have such a stark contrast in personalities?

Siobhan lowered her eyes and sighed helplessly, "I'm doing this for her own good! Just look at her! She only knows how to embarrass the family! If I continue being lenient with her, I'm afraid she'll start committing crimes soon."

He knew the seriousness of the matter. For generations, the Wrenn Family was filled with high-ranking army officials. When something similar occurred, she acted swiftly to keep the news under wraps. In contrast, upper-class families would have been aware of it beforehand.

Even though Jackson was in the army and couldn't leave at will, he purposely requested a leave of absence just because of Evelyn and would be back in two days.

"Evelyn likes Colton, and I know him well. There shouldn't be a problem if they get together," replied Gabriel.

He knew that Colton was the boss behind Wolf. Having Gardner Corporation on the surface and Wolf in the shadows, his conditions were on par with the Wrenn Family's status.

Siobhan closed her eyes. Of course, she knew that! Gabriel, Evelyn, and Colton had been friends since childhood. The Wrenn Family and the Gardner Family were also considered good friends, so Colton would be the best candidate in terms of boldness, appearance, and intelligence. Despite that, he wasn't interested in Evelyn!
