Queenie knew she had reached the point of no return. Although Bryan had impure motives, at least she could survive if she stayed by his side.

"I can give him a child, Mom, but I don't want Nicole and Colton to be together." As Queenie spoke, a hint of viciousness flashed across her eyes.

Lydia knew what she was thinking and patted her hand as she cooed, "William ran over Old Mrs. Gardner. No matter what, he is Nicole's father, so even if they've broken this father-and-daughter bond, their blood relation is still the same. Hence, the Gardners will never agree to Nicole and Colton's relationship."

When Queenie heard her words, she felt that Lydia had a point. Thus, she didn't say anything more.

Although Betty had her gastric lavage done in time and was saved, she had become absent-minded after being heavily drugged. At this moment, she was lying on the bed and staring blankly into the air while Nicole stayed beside her.

The doctor assured Nicole that Betty's condition was normal since the drug was too potent. If she wanted to cure Betty, she still had a long road ahead. Hence, Nicole could only postpone her plans of going abroad since Betty needed to rely on the IV drip and could not leave the country.

Although she knew that Lydia was the mastermind behind this, she couldn't find any evidence of Lydia's doings. Moreover, the caretaker left as soon as she drugged Betty.

Initially, Zachary wanted to help, but Nicole stopped him since she didn't want to trouble him. "If she's able to do such a thing, she probably has an escape plan. That caretaker is only a pawn, so we won't get anything out of her even if we catch her. Let's just forget about it." Nicole smiled bitterly.

Seeing her in such a state made Zachary heartbroken. He gulped harshly and sighed. "Are you going to let her off the hook then, Nicole?" he asked.

Hearing his words, Nicole sighed. She could feel her head throbbing in pain, and she closed her eyes while feeling uncomfortable. When she opened them again, there was a hint of persistence in her gaze.

"I won't let this matter off the hook, but now is not the time to investigate it. Although Betty had her gastric lavage done, she isn't in good condition because of the heavy drugs. Hence, I'll have to wait until she gets better before making them pay for what they've done!"

At this moment, she was worried about Betty and didn't want to leave her in someone else's care. If it weren't for that caretaker, Betty wouldn't have ended up like this, Nicole thought guiltily.

"Alright, I'll just keep you company. The Yates Family don't have anything urgent to do at the moment either," Zachary said gently.

Looking at his gentle face, Nicole hesitated. She wanted to tell Zachary that he didn't need to care for her too much, but she swallowed her words in the end when she saw how much he cared for her.
