When Nicole saw Zachary's hurtful expression, she tried to find a reasonable excuse. "Zach, now that Hayden knows who his biological father is, I don't want to upset him."

Zachary looked up, and his gaze landed on her face. For a moment, there was discontentment in his eyes, but he put it away instantly. After a long time, he said, "You know what kind of person I am, Nicole. I don't care about Hayden being Colton's son, and Hayden likes me too, so I bet he won't mind."

As she looked at this persistent Zachary, a sense of helplessness filled her heart.

Of course, she knew that Hayden liked Zachary. Yet, she didn't know why, but no matter how well Zachary treated her, she only had gratitude for him and nothing more.

She looked down and put on a wry smile. After some time, she replied, "Give me some time to consider this, Zach…"

When he saw her in a difficult position, he didn't force her anymore. He put on his usual gentle look and said, "I should go back to look after Hayden."

"Okay," she answered.

After he said that, he didn't stay any longer; he turned around and left right away.

Just a moment after Zachary left, Colton opened the door and entered the ward in a personalized black suit. When he came in, he was emitting a calm and elegant aura, similar to a character coming out of a comic.

When Nicole saw him, she was shocked. She looked at him vigilantly and asked, "What are you doing here, President Gardner?"

Seeing that she was so cautious around him, he frowned in dissatisfaction and took a step forward. Instantly, his tall figure blocked her field of view. At this moment, she held onto her hand and took a step back, but she was going to reach the wall if she stepped back again. She had no way out.

It was as though Colton knew about it as he walked closer to her until she was engulfed by his scent.

"Enough, Colton Gardner! We're in a hospital! What are you trying to do?!"

He lowered his head to look at her with a mere smile. "Why do you always think that I'm evil? Didn't I tell you last night that I've hired a professional team to examine Betty?"

When Nicole heard that, she was startled for a moment. Every time she met him, she just couldn't help but get nervous, which made her forget about this important matter. She looked at him and fell into deep thought.

Betty's condition is horrible. She needs to be treated as soon as possible. I'm not a specialist in this area, anyway. There's no other way.

After taking a deep breath, she tried to keep the calm on her face before she looked at him. "Well, then. You have my thanks, President Gardner."

At this moment, Colton chuckled, and his eyes were all smiles. He reached his hand to her chin and lifted it to let her eyes meet his. When she looked at his captivating eyes, her heart skipped a beat, and she became a little nervous.
