Chapter 781

Benedict's eyebrow was raised as he smiled and turned to look at Colton and Anna. Then, with a grin, he mentioned, "Quickly come over. Since Evelyn's here, she's our guest."

Colton did not refuse Benedict's words and approached them, one step at a time, but his casual attitude made it difficult for anyone to read his mood.

Evelyn's ears were slightly red as she looked at Colton with timid eyes. She stammered for a long time before she finally whispered, "Collie."

He gave a casual response because of Benedict.

Anna was next to approach and greeted Evelyn with a smile, "Oh yeah, is there anything you like to eat, Evelyn? I'll ask the servants to whip up something for today's lunch."

Evelyn behaved shyly as she blinked before she softly replied, "I'm not picky. Anything's good…"

When Anna was about to say something more, Benedict interrupted her.

He looked at her and mentioned, "Let Colton be the one to accompany Evelyn for lunch. She has been abroad most of the time, so she's not familiar with the cuisines available here. Since Colton is free today, let him bring her out for a look."

Anna was hesitant to give a reply, but she heard Benedict's words when she wanted to speak up.

"The Wrenn Family and the Gardner Family have been acquainted for years. Now that Evelyn's in the country, as an elder, Colton is responsible for caring for her."

It was obvious to the keen eye that Benedict wanted to set Colton and Evelyn on a date, which resulted in Anna shooting Colton a look of worry.

Colton did not refuse the arrangement and with an aloof expression, he responded in a low voice, "Sure."

At that, Evelyn's heart raced. Then, she suddenly looked up at Colton with a slightly blushing face. As a result, this made her look shy.

Noticing that Colton had agreed, Benedict was satisfied and had a smile as he waved them off. "Now that's done, you two can head out. It's alright if you two want to come back later tonight too."

Colton nodded and slowly rose to his full height.

Because Benedict was not in the best of health, Colton had been living in the Gardner Residence for the past few days.

As he walked out, he ignored Evelyn.

She quickly stood up and followed Colton out.

There was a relief on Benedict's face as he watched them leave. He turned to Anna and smilingly asked, "Do they match each other?"

With a slight frown, Anna avoided his question and instead said, "Dad, Colton's no longer young. It's up to him on whom he fancies."

Sure enough, his expression darkened at those words. He was gloomy as he responded in a deep voice, "I'm much older now. I don't think I've much time left, so I'd hope to see Colton settling down with a family before my time is up."

As Anna listened to those words, she found it hard to refute Benedict. She remained silent after she hummed in response to him.

Evelyn was close to jogging to keep up with Colton.

Colton was tall and had long legs, so he would take big strides whenever he walked alone.

She struggled to maintain the pace, so she had no choice but to brisk walk. Apart from that, she was in high-heeled shoes and a figure-hugging dress. The attire was so fitting that she could barely take a step in comfort, what more running.

Seeing that he was about to leave, she quickly shouted, "Walk slower, Collie. I can't keep up."
