Chapter 796

Now that Colton brought that up, the serenity on Zachary's countenance finally cracked. Still, he quelled his emotions and kept them to himself by saying indifferently, "I know, but I don't think you've contributed anything to Hayden's birth besides that absurd night, haven't you?"

A gleam shone in Colton's dark eyes as he chuckled lightly before retorting, "Yeah, at least Nicole and I did spend an absurd night."

Their childish feud was a raging headache for Nicole, prompting her to stop them. "Enough!"

Colton stopped running his mouth and looked at her affectionately. "Fine, we'll stop. You're still weak, Nicole. All you need is a good rest." Then, he withdrew his hand magnanimously and gazed at Zachary. "I'll leave Nicky to you."

The ever-gentleness on Zachary's face was long gone. All that was present on his dead-pan expression was indifference when he answered coldly, "Stop acting nice when it comes to her."

The corner of Colton's lips curled slightly upward, but he turned a deaf ear to Zachary's remarks. Instead, he pinched Nicole's earlobe, seemingly in a better mood. "Get some rest, Nicky. I'll come back tomorrow."

After saying that, he returned to his car and hit the road.

Once Colton was gone, Zachary finally noticed her unusually pale complexion. The glint in his eyes lost its light. "Why do you look so pale? What happened, Nicole?"

Now that he was showing his concern, she shook her head. "I'm fine. It's just that Madam Gould had a massive hemorrhage, and our blood happened to be a match, so I donated some of my blood. I'll get back on my feet after some rest."

The mention of blood donation caused a crease between his brows. Displeasure was written all over his face when he chided, "You're anemic, and your blood type is rare. What if something happens to you?"

Nicole hung her head low at his reprimand before explaining her stance, "Madam Gould lost too much blood. If I didn't do that, her life would've been in danger."

Zachary stared deeply at her and heaved a soft sigh, giving in to the situation. "I understand, but it'll be better if you don't do that anymore. Have you forgotten how serious your anemia was?"
