Jackson's expression stiffened slightly at those words. His stern gaze fell upon Gabriel for a long time before he spoke again. "Have you investigated the incident?"

Gabriel nodded lightly. After pondering for a moment, he finally answered, "I investigated Nicole's identity. Her parents are William Anderson and Madeline Houston. William killed Ella Chandler in a car accident many years ago. Thanks to the efforts of the Gardner Family, he is currently in prison for his crimes. On the other hand, Madeline passed away six years ago."

Jackson nodded. There was only one other element that puzzled him at the moment—why did Nicole's blood excessively fuse with Siobhan's blood?

A trace of doubt flashed through his aged but spirited eyes.

Gabriel noticed his father's doubts and pensively continued his speech. "Dad, I know what you're thinking. I've also investigated the hospital where Nicole was born. It is the same hospital as the one where Evelyn was born. Moreover, they were only born a few minutes apart."

Although the statement was delivered lightly, the words struck Jackson in the chest like a heavy fist.

A possible theory occurred to him, and his sharp eyes suddenly looked confused. Then, he clenched his fists tightly.

Gabriel watched his father's reaction. Jackson parted his lips slightly but eventually suppressed the words he originally wanted to say. Instead, he quietly murmured, "Let's keep this a secret from your mother for now."

Gabriel glanced at his father. Although he already had the answer in his heart, he asked the question anyway. "Dad, should I continue investigating this matter?"

Jackson shook his head. His wizened face was filled with exhaustion. After hesitating briefly, he finally announced his decision. "No need. Having just suffered from a car accident, your mother won't be able to endure such shocking news. Besides, it might just be a coincidence. The same goes for you. Don't think too deeply about this."

His original answer remained on the tip of his tongue, but he honestly did not wish to consider the possibilities.

A helpless smile appeared on Gabriel's lips when he heard those words. Nevertheless, he said nothing more on the subject and simply nodded affirmatively. "I got it, Dad."

Likewise, Jackson nodded in acknowledgment. Turning around, he walked toward the door and said, "I'll stay at the hospital to take care of your mother. You should go back and check on Evelyn."

After saying that, he opened the door and went back into the ward.

Gabriel stared at the closed door. A helpless expression surfaced in the depths of his eyes. When the doctor mentioned that the phenomenon was most likely caused by immediate family, he immediately recalled the information he obtained from his previous investigation into Nicole.

Both Nicole and Evelyn were not only born in the same hospital but also born within a few minutes of each other. Moreover, Siobhan's blood type was scarce. It was the kind that could only be found in one in a million people. When they were abroad, they had deliberately arranged for two others with similar blood types to work in their company as a preventive measure against unexpected accidents.

Siobhan had also undergone blood transfusions on other occasions before, but nothing strange had happened to her body at the time.

If what the doctor said was true, then Gabriel was reluctant to consider the other possibilities.

Although Evelyn could be quite willful and selfish, she had been his sister for so many years. If it turned out that she was not his biological sister…
