Chapter 813

When Nicole left the detention center, she was wholly muddled and stood at the entrance with a weary expression on her face, appearing a little worn. She remained frozen at the door for a few minutes before she recollected herself and slowly ambled to her car.

She closed her eyes when she slumped into the leather back as her mind was a complete mess.

Her guess was right on the money. When Madeline was pregnant, William wasn't paying any attention to her at all. Even when she was giving birth at the hospital, he didn't show up and the only one by Madeline's side at that time was Betty.

Earlier in prison, the things she dug out from William after some grilling was—back then, when her mother, Madeline, was about to give birth, Lydia was also pregnant at the same time. Of course, his sole attention was on Lydia, so he barely bothered about Madeline.

When Madeline was pregnant and discovered that he had another lover, she was infuriated. Alas, not only did he not repent, he turned worse and even laid his hands on her.

Nicole fluttered her eyes shut and recalled that time when Siobhan told her that she was born on the same day as Evelyn.

Suddenly, an absurd thought popped up in her mind, but it flashed through her mind very quickly and disappeared like the wind.

Her hands slowly tightened into fists on her sides, but she couldn't believe that Madeline would be such a person!

She lightly banged her head on the steering wheel in front of her in resignation and exhaustion. Frankly, she could feel herself being crushed by the overwhelming pressure.

Eventually, she laid back in the seat and sighed.

This matter was exposed in the hospital, and the Wrenns would react. They definitely knew something, and since they weren't planning to say anything… She didn't see any need to put herself forward like a pathetic puppy.

With this thought in mind, she smiled helplessly. Her fair hands gripped the steering wheel so tightly that her knuckles turned white. Her chest gradually started to tighten unwittingly, radiating with pain.

After she sat in the car in silence, mulling over things, she finally stepped on the gas pedal and left.

In the end, Douglas realized that he was a soft-hearted fool. He hated Whitney; the moment she destroyed his family and career, he knew he despised her.

But when the time came for him to send her to jail with his own hands, he just couldn't bring himself to do it despite the concrete evidence presented before him.
