Anna's wary voice rang out from the other end of the call. "Colton? Are you… okay?"

"I'm alright," he drawled. "I just took a shower. I'm heading to bed soon. Is something the matter, Mom?"

Anna only felt relieved after hearing Colton say that he was fine. After letting out a sigh of relief, she thought for a second and answered, "Oh, nothing much. I was just worried about you. Nicole's injection turned out pretty effective, didn't it?"

Anna seemed to mull over something before she continued somewhat hesitantly, "By the way, Colton, I've already helped you deal with the Wrenns but if it turns out that Evelyn wasn't the one who drugged you, you have to take responsibility for her."

He knew what Anna meant. If Evelyn hadn't schemed against him, that meant that he did not have a reason to get him out of this, so he naturally would have to be responsible for taking advantage of her.

However, he felt upset just thinking about it. "I understand. I've informed someone to look into this. I will compensate Evelyn if she wasn't the one who did it."

As Anna listened to the unfamiliar tone he was speaking in, she knew that her son didn't want to get involved with Evelyn. Still, this wasn't just a matter of compensation.
