Chapter 883

It wasn't that Gabriel hadn't suspected this before, but the matter got played down afterward; it eventually became forgotten as nobody mentioned it. "W-What do you mean?" he asked.

Raising his chin, Colton said, "I heard from a former servant at the Anderson Residence today that Nicole had been swapped in the hospital when she was a baby. Also, her birth parents were surnamed Wrenn." Despite his impassive tone of voice, his ink-black eyes were fixed steadily on Gabriel.

Gabriel was startled for a moment, and his lips parted. He asked, "You mean Nicole is my biological sister?"

"There's no proof of it yet. If we can get our hands on your mom and Nicole's DNA samples, we can do a paternity test, by which time we'll know the results," Colton suggested.

"Are you asking me to get my parents' hair samples?" Gabriel asked.

Colton nodded. "That's right."

All of a sudden, Gabriel jumped to his feet. He said after a while, "Let me think about this."

Colton wasn't at all surprised to see that Gabriel didn't agree to it immediately. He replied impassively with a half-hearted smile, "I know you've developed a familial bond with Evelyn over so many years. Still, you've got to think about this: Nicole has never done anything wrong, yet she suffered so much because of that person's selfishness. Isn't it only right and proper that your family should make it up to her?" Then, seeing there was still a hint of indecision on the man's face, he simply stood up and continued, "Whether you're willing to do it or not, the facts will never change. What you need to do now is to get to the bottom of this."

At this very moment, Gabriel only felt that his mind was in turmoil. He had long prepared himself to a certain degree for such a thing, but now that the fact was laid bare before him, he was kind of at a loss for what choice to make.

Seeing that he was silent, Colton didn't keep pushing him either. He let out a chuckle and said slowly, "Just take your time to think about it. The Wrenns are beholden to her, after all." With that, he turned around and left right away, leaving Gabriel alone.

After Colton had left, Gabriel sat in his seat for a long time before slowly collecting himself. Then, a wry smile played on his lips. Well, what's coming will come. Even if I don't help Colton with this, he'll always find another way around it. And besides, if Nicole really is the Wrenn Family's daughter, we will have to make up for what we've owed her over these years, anyway.
