Jason stood stock–still at the window, rain blurring his view of the motionless figure on the steps. Three years in prison. That’s what she was facing if he sent her away. He hadn’t brought it up in years, but he always knew his mother was after Sophia. Now with a chance, she wouldn’t let go. There was no way out of this mess tonight.

Across the room, Camila watched her son staring out the window, a lost look on his face. Alarm bells clanged in her head. Ugh, there’s no way my son still has feelings for her, right?
