Chapter 747 Inviting Me Up

Max didn’t say another word. He just turned and walked straight into the company building.

Dante started to follow but was immediately blocked by Max’s bodyguards.

They formed a solid wall in front of him. Before leaving, Max had given clear instructions—Dante’s actions had already disrupted the company’s normal operations, and he didn’t want to see him anywhere near the premises again.

Back in Kingsdom, Dante was someone important. Wherever he went, people showed him respect. But in Havenbrook? That didn’t count for much.

The head of security stepped forward and warned him, “Mr. Paltrow, if you keep this up, we’ll have to call the police.”

The legal systems in Havenbrook and Kingsdom were

completely different. Dante clenched his jaw, unwilling to back down, but he had no choice.

His plan had been to stir up trouble, to make things so difficult for Anne at work that she’d have no choice but to leave. Once

that happened, she’d have no reason to stay in Havenbrook— and naturally, she’d come back with him.

As long as she returned to Kingsdom, he’d no longer be at a

disadvantage. But clearly, that wasn’t going to work. If anything, it had only made Anne resent him more.

Months ago, Max had already declared war on him. At the time, Dante hadn’t taken him seriously. But now maybe he’d underestimated him all along.

The company trainees were practically nocturnal. Their reversed schedule meant that Anne’s work hours were pushed

back as well.

By 7:30 p.m., the last dance class of the day ended. Anne headed to the locker room, changed back into her own clothes, and prepared to grab something to eat.

Just as she stepped out, she saw Max standing right outside. She blinked, surprised. “Mr. Blunt? What are you doing here?”

Max’s deep, magnetic voice carried a hint of amusement. “Waiting for you.” Then he smiled and asked, “Would this beautiful lady do me the honor of joining me for dinner?”

He stood in the hallway, his eyes fixed on her, a small smile playing on his face. When Max smiled, there was something in his eyes–something deep and unreadable, yet strangely captivating.

Anne was momentarily stunned. For a second, something about his look–something unspoken–seemed to hit her right in the heart.
