Chapter 206 Have to go

The woman who just moments ago seemed composed now held her head in her hands, shaking, her eyes darting back and forth between Marcelo and Paul, clearly struggling with her thoughts. She was having a hysterical episode.

Marcelo, keeping his cool, quickly gave Jessica two pills.

These pills, meant to soothe, worked fast.

Jessica relaxed, lay back on the bed, and drifted gently to sleep.

Marcelo, having finished his task, noticed Renee’s gaze fixed on him.

“Did that scare you?” he asked, gently taking her hand.

It was unclear whether he was referring to Jessica’s actions or his own seemingly indifferent reaction.

Renee shook her head. “No, not scared. Just really surprised.”

She was taken aback by how Marcelo seemed to have mixed feelings about Jessica.

“Do you always trigger your mom like that?” Paul chided Marcelo.

With a mocking smile, Marcelo retorted, “Isn’t she in that condition because of you?”

“You are being disrespectful!” Paul, clearly upset, scolded him before turning his attention to Marcelo’s legs, unable to hide his concern. “Are your legs fully healed?”

Marcelo’s regular trips to Bellbanks University didn’t slip by unnoticed. He doubted Paul’s informants

hadn’t filled him in already.

“Relax, the King family doesn’t interest me one bit,” Marcelo said, his voice laced with slight scorn.

“But you’re my grandson as well. You also have a share in inheriting the King family’s business.” Paul, visibly aged, seemed to regard this grandson with a sense of newfound appreciation.

Marcelo didn’t respond, but the subtle smirk playing on his lips said it all.

He signaled Vivian to join him in the small living room, making sure he stayed within Renee’s view,

intentionally or not.

“Marcelo…” Vivian began, filled with hope that Marcelo might finally put past grievances aside, especially since his brother’s passing had made him more agreeable to her wishes.

“Pack your bags and leave Harvillston. Start the paperwork tomorrow,” Marcelo cut in. “With your skills and good name, you’ll find a top–notch job anywhere in the country.”

Vivian was shocked.
