Before she could finish, sharp smacks echoed through the air. Rebecca had struck her, hard and swift, cutting Lindy’s sentence off in a series of stinging slaps.

“Keep up the slander, and this is what you’ll get,” Rebecca snapped, unable to stomach Lindy’s venomous insults any longer.

The sharp smacks left red welts, and fresh blood marred Lindy’s face where it hadn’t even healed yet.
