Allison’s eyes flickered with unexpected excitement, though she kept her tone light. “Alright, see you at seven then, Mr. Shaw.” She couldn’t help but suspect this was more of an excuse than a genuine reason. What could he possibly need from a house that had clearly been unused for ages?

With the documents sorted, Allison decided it was best to make herself scarce. She got up and approached the office door, only to feel Verruckt’s gaze land on her, sharp and unyielding like he had a sixth sense for her movements.

“Mr. Shaw, I was just thinking of going out for a cup of coffee,” Allison said, her voice casual, though her mind raced to come up with an excuse. She couldn’t figure out what was going through his unpredictable mind.
