Chapter 937:

When Gordon was sent overseas as a child, he had felt bitter and isolated. Years later, after meeting Allison, he had experienced some of the happiest moments of his life. But now, he realized that everything had changed.

He told himself that he needed to grow stronger—strong enough to stand up to his family. Only then could he become a reliable protector for Allison, shielding her from any danger.

“Gordon, if there’s anything you need, just tell me,” Allison said, her eyes locking onto his. “If breaking free from your family is what you want, I can help you find that freedom.”

“It’s fine,” he replied with a small shrug. “At worst, they’ll keep me locked up at home for a while and forbid me from going out. But I won’t go hungry or thirsty.”

Around Allison, Gordon always came across as the friendly, dependable younger brother. He gave off an air of calmness and trust, never seeming like a threat.

“I want to fight for my freedom on my own,” Gordon said firmly. His clear gaze met Allison’s. “Don’t worry, Allison. I’ll grow up fast,” he added with quiet determination.

The events in Fleeingland had made him realize something important. Only by becoming stronger could he truly make a difference. He wished that next time, he would be the one standing beside Allison—not Kellan.
