Just then, the doctor suddenly looked at her. “You’re the family member of Cicely in Room 666, right? Her results are out too.”
He quickly walked into the adjacent office and handed Claudia the diagnosis.
Claudia’s brows furrowed tightly when she saw the words “malignant tumor,” her heart sinking.
She took the results and headed to Edmond’s room. Edmond was awake but looked somewhat pale.
Claudia clenched the diagnosis paper. Edmond looked at her and said. “Give it to me. I can handle it.”
Although he already knew the result, Edmond remained silent for a long time after reading the diagnosis.
Claudia wanted to say something comforting but didn’t know where to
start.
Claudia thought, “As the saying goes. It’s hard to advise someone on suffering things you haven’t experienced’. Moreover, I had been through it myself.”
Any external consolation would be useless, especially when one had to put on a brave face for others.
“I’ll step out for a bit. Call me if you need anything.”
Edmond needed some time alone right now.

However, Rosalie, sitting next to Edmond, showed no signs of leaving.
From a distance, Claudia could hear Rosalie’s coquettish advice. “Cicely shouldn’t be stressed…”
After exiting, Claudia headed straight to the doctor’s office. There were things she needed to clarify.
The doctor was writing something on paper. Hearing the knock, he looked up and met a pair of clear, beautiful eyes.
Claudia noticed his name tag, Hugh Darwin.
“Excuse the intrusion, I have some questions for Dr. Darwin.”
Her voice was languid but pleasant, her gaze sharp and clear.
Hugh pondered for a moment and softly said, “Come in.”
“My grandmother has been in this hospital for over half a year. I know all the doctors here. How come I’ve never seen you before, Dr. Darwin?”
“I was abroad for further studies; I’ve just returned.”
“Oh…” Claudia clenched her fingers, her nails digging into her flesh, “Does Dr. Darwin know Rosalie?”
Hugh looked deeply into her eyes, his expression unreadable.

Claudia smiled faintly, her eyes slightly upturned, carrying a hint of sharpness and aggression.
She had clearly heard the key parts of their conversation.

“What do you think the chances are that a cancer patient in the hospital suddenly dies not from the disease but from cardiac stress, especially when the surveillance is also broken?”
Hugh seemed surprised by her question, his expression slightly bewildered.
He quickly regained his composure.
“The risk of human intervention is high. No one would dare to do such a thing in a hospital. Ms. Lloyd, have you misunderstood something?” His speech was deliberate, and his slender face showed no signs of cr acks.
From the moment he said he didn’t know Rosalie well, Claudia knew she wouldn’t get anything out of him.
“You’re right. It’s indeed risky for one person to do such a thing.”
But what if there were accomplices?
What if someone was helping?
Claudia remained expressionless. Though Hugh didn’t admit it, she was almost clear about that situation.
At least there was a new lead regarding her grandmother’s situation.
Inside Edmond’s hospital room.
Edmond was on the phone, listening to his assistant’s report.
“Mr. Lamont, why did you stop me from investigating Mrs. Lamont and Mr. Friedan’s relationship? We were about to make a breakthrough…”

“No need to investigate further,” thinking of Claudia’s resistance, Edmond spoke indifferently.
Since it was her choice, he should try to let her go.
“So you’re really planning to divorce?” Rodney Grant, his assistant, was quite sentimental. “Mrs. Lamont is actually quite good.”

Ervin spoke honestly, “Keep her away from you.”
