Nina giggled, dipped her fingers into the ointment, and carefully spread it across the bruises on the boy’s arms, making sure her touch didn’t hurt him.

His brow knit slightly, caught off guard by what they were doing.

“No talking. No moving,” Nina reminded him sweetly while dabbing the ointment. “If you move, you lose and have to do this yourself at home.”

Over the next ten minutes, Jesse and Nina tended to every injury with quiet care.
