Chapter 150

Chapter 150:

“This is my phone number,” Eileen handed the phone back to Arthur and asked politely, “Can I leave now?”

Arthur checked the number she had entered and dialed it.

Eileen frowned. She had intentionally swapped the last two digits of her phone number, not expecting Arthur to call it immediately.

No one answered the call. Arthur raised his eyebrows at Eileen.

Eileen maintained her composure and said, “I didn’t bring my phone with me; it’s in the private room.”

“Okay, what should I call you?” Arthur hung up the call, ready to save the number under her name.

Eileen invented a name on the spot. Seeing Arthur’s skeptical look, she added, “It’s really my name.”

Arthur’s smile broke through, his eyes alight with curiosity. He tapped on his phone continuously before stepping aside.

Eileen walked away. She knew she and Arthur belonged to different worlds here.

He was enchanted by places, while she was engulfed in her city work, making it unlikely she would see him again.

Now, her main concern was to avoid any complications with him, believing their paths would not cross in the future.

When Eileen returned to the private room, she found Bryan not on the sofa but by the window, talking on the phone.

He was smoking, wearing a gentle smile, his expression affectionate—a side of him Eileen hadn’t witnessed before.

“Has Zola come back?” Phoebe asked Jacob.

Phoebe and Jacob were deep in conversation and hadn’t noticed Eileen’s return. Their eyes were on Bryan.

“Bryan arrived at Wist Land shortly after her return,” Jacob replied. “They’ve only been able to talk over the phone. It’s been years since they’ve seen each other.”

Phoebe remarked, “No wonder they’re so smitten with each other now.”

Eileen settled into a corner and listened to their chat.

A pang of sadness hit her. She had heard the name Zola before.

But this was the first time she had seen Bryan so tenderly engaged on the phone with another woman.

His low chuckles reached her from across the room.

She twirled her hair, the red light overhead casting a glow on her face, making her appear almost ethereal.

Lowering her head, she masked her emotions.

Bryan, leaning against the window, caught sight of her. He felt his throat tighten.

Perhaps it was the anticipation of their planned meeting tonight that made him restless.

“Bryan, your parents are urging you to come home. What are you planning to do?” Zola’s voice came through the phone.

“If you want to avoid their nagging, just stay away from them. And if it helps, you can blame me,” Bryan suggested, his smile fading.
