Chapter 156

Chapter 156:

“If you’re not afraid I’ll kill him, go ahead and take care of him,” Bryan said, his voice cold. After applying ointment to the last scratch, Eileen tossed the swab into the trash. The room fell silent for a few moments before she broke it. “I have to go to the hospital anyway. I need to check on Milford. I don’t know how he’s doing.”

She couldn’t shake the image of Milford getting beaten up by those thugs yesterday without uttering a single word. He had stayed with her instead of running away, even though he could have easily escaped. Milford reminded her of Roderick.

“I’ll take you there later,” Bryan said, scrolling through his phone, his brows furrowing at something he saw. Eileen glanced down at the oversized shirt she was wearing. “I don’t have any clothes here.”

“When Jacob and Phoebe arrive, you can tell Phoebe what you need,” Bryan said, standing up and glancing at her.

His eyes lingered on her legs, visible beneath the black shirt, long and slender. He swallowed hard, memories of last night flooding back. Those legs had mesmerized him all night. He wasn’t satisfied, not even close. Suppressing his restlessness, Bryan headed to the bathroom. He paused, remembering something, and went to retrieve a new set of toiletries from the cabinet.

“Come freshen up. They’ll be here soon,” he told Eileen, leaving no room for argument. Eileen hesitated briefly, then followed him into the bathroom. The sink was large enough for two. Bryan handed her the toiletries, clearly meant for women.

Eileen unwrapped the toothbrush and squeezed out some toothpaste. As she started brushing her teeth, she caught their reflections in the mirror. Bryan glanced at her, noticing how she was a head shorter than him, and he arched his eyebrows.

Half an hour later, Bryan descended the staircase from the second floor. Jacob and Phoebe had already arrived. Bryan strolled over, lazily gesturing upstairs. “Eileen’s in the first room on the left side of the second floor.”

“Okay,” Phoebe replied, heading up with the clothes she had brought for Eileen.

Bryan sank into the sofa, fiddling with his phone contentedly, wearing a faint smile. Jacob clicked his tongue before sitting next to Bryan. “Look at you. You slept with Eileen last night, didn’t you? But you’re having a hard time in Wist Land now, and you’ve ticked off the Blake family. What’s your plan?”

Bryan glanced up as if he didn’t care. “I don’t know.”

Jacob said. “I got a call from my father this morning. He’s cut me off. He won’t let me give you the money.” He sighed, crossing his legs. “He must have known I’d help you, so he froze my assets in advance. Now,
