“The stab wound didn’t hit any vital organs. Mr. Biggs is in no immediate danger. With some rest, he should recover fully.”

As Carter was wheeled out, Kelly shoved past Sharon without hesitation, throwing herself to the bedside like a dutiful hostess.

“Carter, are you alright?” she cried out, voice trembling with concern.
