Chapter 472

When Madeline learned of the incident, she showed no sympathy. Instead, she scolded Sharon for making a fuss over nothing.

Later, Carter tracked down the person who had “accidentally” pushed Sharon into the water. But since everyone invited to Madeline’s birthday banquet belonged to elite families closely tied to the Biggs family, holding them accountable was out of the question. The best they could do was offer a forced apology.

But compared to nearly drowning, a flimsy “sorry” meant nothing.

After Carter had them delete the video of Sharon, the whole affair was swept under the rug.

Sharon’s fear of water traced back to her childhood-she had once fallen into the sea while boating with her mother.

Later, life grew busy, and she lived far from the coast, with little exposure to oceans or lakes. Though years had passed and her phobia had faded somewhat, her instinct was still to avoid water. She’d never learned to swim.

But after that incident at Madeline’s birthday party, it took her more than half a year to overcome her fear. Eventually, she taught herself to swim. 1
