Chapter 517

Sharon’s tone was cool and detached, like she was speaking to a stranger. Not even the faintest ripple of emotion touched her

face. 17

Something tightened in Carter’s throat.

“It’s been a while since Theo saw you,” he said. “Don’t you want to spend some time with him?”

Sharon replied, “I’m still busy.”

It was a clear refusal.

“No matter how busy you are, you don’t have a few minutes to spare for your son?”

She gave a slight, almost indifferent smile. “He may not want to see me. Didn’t Kelly come with you? If she’s there, that should be enough.”

A faint crease appeared between Carter’s brows.

“You’re Theo’s mother. No matter how close he is to Kelly, she can never take your place.”

But Sharon remained unmoved.

Just as Carter seemed about to press further, Xavier appeared beside her, his steps quick and purposeful. Leaning in, he whispered into her ear, “Cole’s awake.”

A flicker passed through Sharon’s eyes.

When Cole had dragged her away earlier, she hadn’t resisted. She’d wanted to deal with that ticking bomb before the performance began. She’d had pepper spray on her, so she wasn’t afraid of him.

She’d pretended she couldn’t fight back, letting him take her to a storeroom. He’d tried to lock her in. She grabbed a brick and

Just as she was wondering how to handle the unconscious Cole, Xavier had found her. With the performance about to begin, she had no choice but to let him take care of things.

She now whispered back, “What’s his condition?”

“He’s Uriah’s grandson. Killing him isn’t an option,” Xavier said. “I locked him inside the warehouse.”

He paused a beat before saying, “If the Malcolm family comes asking questions later, just pin it on me. Say there was bad blood between us. Uriah won’t make things hard for me.”

Sharon shook her head. “The one with a grudge against him is me. He’s not going to let this go easily.”

Xavier lifted an eyebrow. “You two knew each other before?”

He’d assumed Cole had seen a pretty face and made a move, and Sharon, rushing to perform, had knocked him out without thinking twice.
