Alice stopped, her voice polite and distant.“Second brother, fourth brother, sixth brother.” If she didn’t call out to them, they’d probably accuse her of sulking and being rude. She didn’t have the energy to argue with them, it was just a waste of time.

Luke raised an eyebrow and looked over.“So, how’d the exam go today? You’re so focused on ‘studying hard‘ that you didn’t join the team. I’m curious to see how well you can do!” Facing the jabs from her sixth brother, Alice didn’t take it to heart; no matter what she did, her brothers always looked down on her. She pressed her lips together: “I’ll do my best.” She was determined to improve her grades and get into Harvard University far away from them.

Caleb let out a scoff.“Alice’s never been a bookworm. She didn’t do great in tenth or eleventh grade, either. Cramming now, at the end? It only looks like she’s trying hard. In the end, she’s still behind Chloe!”

Chloe chimed in with a smile:“Caleb, don’t say that. Alice’s been studying really hard lately, even the teachers praised her. Grades aren’t everything, you know.”
