Chapter 100

Alice’s eyes gleamed with mischief as she watched Noah being interviewed. Noah was caught off guard by the reporter’s question about their contribution to Alice’s academic success. He didn’t understand what the reporter was asking.

Alice had moved out months before the exam, rarely visiting home. Her academic improvement had nothing to do with her family. Luke had even made her miss study time for the gaming competition because of Chloe’s poor performance. The Windham family hadn’t contributed to her success; they’d actively hindered it. If Alice hadn’t insisted on moving out and refusing to participate in the team’s training, her chances of becoming top scorer would have been slim.

Realizing Alice’s intentions, Noah looked at her. She was mocking them all. She knew they had no face to claim credit for her achievement. This was a humiliating slap in the face; he hadn’t been a good brother.

Noah’s face was strained. He said hoarsely, “We didn’t do much. My sister is intelligent and hardworking.”

The reporter seemed disappointed. The homeroom teacher, however, understood; Alice was being sarcastic.

The principal approached.“Congratulations, Mr. Windham. Your family has a top scorer.” Noah felt shame. He’d done nothing to contribute to Alice’s success. The congratulations felt like a condemnation. He avoided looking at Alice.

The homeroom teacher tried to smooth things over.“Let’s go Alice, lagging behind, said to Noah, “You should leave.”

to the restaurant.”

“Alice!” Noah looked at her, his expression complex, unable to speak as he had before. Seeing Noah’s silhouette from the car, Alice found the principal’s congratulations ironic. They arrived at the restaurant. Noah followed; he couldn’t stay away. He received a call from Luke.“Second Brother, what’s wrong? Chloe’s at the hospital. Why haven’t you brought Alice?” Noah took a deep breath.“We’ll after lunch.”
