Upon seeing Marcus’ baffled expression, Millie held up the bowl of porridge in her hand.

“I’m on my break. I’m heading to the hospital to deliver this porridge to my grandma.”

With that, she walked out of the restaurant, standing at the roadside to hail a cab. A high-end car pulled up, and the occupant inside rolled down the window.

“Hop in. I’ll give you a lift.” It was Marcus.

Millie scanned the road. Finding a taxi seemed like a tall order at this hour, so she stepped into the car without a second thought.

The drive was marked by silence. Millie kept replaying Derek’s words in her head.
