Chapter 945 Give Up the Bid

That woman was wholeheartedly devoted to achieving something in her career. He didn't want to clip her wings and keep her sheltered like a flower in a greenhouse.

So, he thought it would be best to persuade Victoria to stop bidding to prevent Saunders Group from suffering the backlash of De Lux.

“Enough. You've always been dominant. Has anyone who ever tried to oppose De Lux not ended up in a tragic state?”

“When I have some free time, I'll try to persuade my friend to give up on this bid, and not compete with De Lux.”

With a playful smile, Lynda slowly rose from the sofa.

“Then it's settled. I will handle the other bidding companies. In three days, LG Corporation will launch a full-scale promotion of the new De Lux products.”

Lionel gave a light hum of acknowledgement, then stood up to escort her out of the office.

Once Lynda had entered the elevator, he turned to his assistant and said, “Please ask Ms. Saunders to come to the CEO's office.”

The assistant acknowledged with a sound, ready to step back.

Lionel suddenly called out to him, “Never mind. I'll go to the planning department myself.”

He had just personally gone to the first floor to welcome Lynda. If he were to send someone else to invite Victoria at this moment, who knew how upset she might feel.

He couldn't bear to see her in distress.

Although he knew that persuading her to withdraw from the bidding would make her feel wronged, there was no other choice.

The current Saunders Group was on shaky ground. Therefore, they could not afford to offend international luxury brands like De Lux.

In the business world, isn't it inevitable to face some setbacks and frustrations?

Then, he took the staff elevator to the planning department. There were quite a few people who were startled.

Lionel's gaze swept across the large office, then he turned to the manager standing quietly to the side and asked, “Where is Ms. Saunders? Wasn't she supposed to submit the proposal? Has she left?”

The manager quickly responded with respect, “No, the director is currently meeting with clients and doesn't have time to see Ms. Saunders.

“Just now, the director's assistant invited Ms. Saunders into the lounge. She should be in the lounge.

Lionel gave a light hum in response.

The manager quickly said, “I'll go get the director out.”

“No need. You guys carry on with your work. Don't worry about me.”

Having said that, he headed straight for the lounge.

Pushing open the glass door, he saw Victoria flipping through the proposal in her hand.

The assistant quickly stood up, nodding towards Lionel and said, “Mr. Gezmond... oh, I mean, Ms. Saunders, I'm going to use the restroom. You two carry on with your conversation.”

After she finished speaking, she dashed out like a streak of smoke.

Victoria put down the proposal in her hand and stood up.

Before she could speak, the man standing at the door suddenly strode towards her. His steps were incredibly fast, and in just a few strides, he was right in front of her.

Next, he pushed her back a few meters, pinning her against the wall behind them.

“Lio...”

Before she could finish her sentence, Lionel leaned in close to her, silencing her unfinished words.

Involuntarily, Victoria tried to struggle, but he held her tightly, leaving her unable to move.

This man was the man she loved. She had always loved him deeply from their passionate love in their youth, to their entanglement after a long separation.

Lionel was not a man who acted solely on his wish. After teasing her for a while, he slowly let her go.

“It's been thirteen days since I last saw you. In two more days, I'm certain I'll come looking for you because half a month is my limit.”

Victoria couldn't bear his intense gaze any longer, fearing she might fall for him again. So, she subtly moved her neck, avoiding his line of sight.

“In this world, no one can't live without someone else. It's work time now, so let's talk about work-related matters.”

Lionel didn't speak, he reached out to hold her waist, pulling her into his embrace.

It seemed as if she had noticed the change in the man's mood. Victoria's voice trembled as she said, “I... I still have matters to discuss with Director Simmons, could... could you let go of me?”

Lionel remained silent, his slender fingertips gently tracing her tired eyes. In a deep voice, he said, “I let you go to find your freedom, not to work your life away.”

“If you don't take better care of yourself in the future, then stop showing your face in public. Return to the Gezmond residence and become a full-time housewife.”

Victoria was somewhat embarrassed.

This man doesn't take divorce seriously at all.

In his eyes, she was a wife who had left in a huff, someone he could bring back home at any moment.

She felt rather helpless.

“Mr. Gezmond, we have no ties anymore.”

“Mm-hmm.” Lionel responded nonchalantly, and said, “That won't stop me from doing what I want to do.”

I really miss her.

Victoria bit her lip hard, using the intense pain to keep herself awake.

“Lionel, do you see me as a loose woman?”
