Chapter 964 Dare To Scheme Against Me

The butler looked at him with a somewhat complicated expression.

Mr. Joseph is practically putting Ms. Catherine in danger. Once she is freed, he is basically showing the family how much he treasures Ms. Catherine. In a ruthless and reclusive family like this, any favored offspring is bound to become everyone's target. If he truly values Ms. Catherine and wishes for her to become the next in line for power, then even if she were sacrificed, her death would be worth it. However, the crux of the matter is that Mr. Joseph never intends to let Ms. Catherine take charge. The reason he hinted to the others that he planned to make her his heir was simply to use her as a shield for Mr. Harvey, to bear all the harm for him.

Even as a butler, he felt a certain way toward such methods.

While he felt sympathy, he dared not say much more.

He was a servant of the Rogers family, bound by generations of loyalty to the family's head. He wouldn't dare harbor even the slightest hint of rebellion.

“Yes, I will go to the shrine right away and have them release Ms. Catherine.”

As soon as he finished speaking, he turned around and walked away.

Joseph furrowed his brows, looking toward the direction of Broderick's residence, a cold light flickering in his eyes.

I'd really like to see what tricks you can pull off, old man.

At that exact moment, inside the study in Broderick's residence, several middle-aged men stood in front of a desk, reporting the progress of the past few days to Broderick.

“Mr. Broderick, we now have control over the people in power who needed to be controlled. We can launch an attack at any time.”

“Exactly, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, Mr. Broderick. We can't afford to miss it.”

Broderick clenched his fists tightly, a glint of eager anticipation flashing in his eyes.

Wilbur, standing to the side, chimed in, “Father, we've been planning for this day for so many years. If we miss this opportunity, I don't know how many more years we, as father and son, will have to endure in silence.”

Broderick glanced at the people around him and shook his head, saying, “We've only considered Joseph, but we forgot that there's still Catherine. That girl has been able to secretly compete with me for years. She's not your average pretty woman—she's much more. Let's wait a bit longer. I don't want to be bested by a young girl.”

“But...”

“Enough. I've made up my mind. No need for further discussion. Wilbur stays. Everyone else should leave.”

No one said anything else in response.

After everyone else had left the room, Wilbur looked at his father with a puzzled expression. Furrowing his brows, he asked, “Dad, what exactly are you worried about?”

Broderick leaned back in his chair, looking exhausted, and sighed. “In the second branch of the family, the truly terrifying one is not Joseph, but that girl, Catherine. That day, she obediently complied, staying in the shrine without complaints. Who knows what plans she has come up with. Wilbur, in this game of power, might makes right. We only have one chance. We can't afford to gamble.”

Wilbur gritted his teeth in resentment. “We should have already killed her by now. Keeping her alive is always a risk. The three-day deadline given by Kurt has already arrived. If we don't act, how are we going to explain it to him?”

Broderick slightly narrowed his eyes, scoffing coldly, “Is his word law? Don't forget, he's the one who needs something from me. Before we finalize our end of the deal, he must obediently help us hold back Joseph. Here's the plan. Give Eunice a call and ask her to win Kurt over. Once Kurt takes over the White family, Eunice will become the matriarch of the White family, enjoying all the honor and respect that comes with it.”

Wilbur nodded. “This is a good plan. Once Eunice becomes Kurt's, we will be completely tied to him. It would be difficult for him to extricate himself after that.”

No sooner had his words fallen than the door to the study was pushed open. A middle-aged man rushed in, urgently saying, “Mr. Broderick, Mr. Wilbur, news has come from the shrine. Mr. Joseph has issued an order, and that is to lift Ms. Catherine's house arrest.”

Wilbur suddenly stood up and snapped, “What? Uncle Joseph lifted Catherine's house arrest? This is an abuse of power, he...”

Before he could finish his roar, Broderick reached out to stop him, sneering coldly, “Isn't this better? The hidden dangers are often the most terrifying. Now that she is allowed to come out, she will be exposed to our sight. All of Joseph's people who were against us are now under our control anyway. Only Catherine is left. We have a chance of winning when it comes to going against her.”

Wilbur looked at him with some hesitation. “Do you mean that we should focus all our efforts on dealing with Catherine next?”

“Exactly. We will go all out against her. As long as we eliminate her and her hidden forces, the second branch of the family will completely fall apart.”

Late at night, the room in the castle in the countryside was filled with waves of sensual sounds.

Eunice looked at the man above her, a calculating curve tugging at the corner of her lips.

She found it easier to accept Kurt than to marry those old geezers in her family.

As long as she helped him reclaim the White family, she would be the next matriarch of the White family.

The status of the Venom Valley in the outside world was in no way inferior to that of the Rogers family. If she could become the matriarch of the White family, she would surely become a person of high standing in the future.

So when her greed-driven older brother called her, she agreed without a second thought.

And her only request was that they hand over Catherine to her once she was captured.

“K-Kurt, slow down.”

She had drugged this man with her sedative fragrance, making him see her as Blaze.
