Chapter 768 Please Do Not Cry

Bailey glared at him.

Who told him that we could break even? Is a man making a mistake the same as a woman's slip-ups? Even if a woman made a mistake, she should be coaxed and comforted, while the man who made mistakes should plaster a cautious smile to please the wronged party.

Artemis' heart softened when he noticed the tears on Bailey's face. He couldn't bear to see her pitiful appearance and her tears.

The only time it is acceptable for a woman to cry is when she begs for mercy while being intimate with a man. If she cries at other times, it's definitely because of the man's incompetence.

“All right. All right. I misbehaved. I was wrong, okay?” Artemis spoke, abruptly slapping his face.

“There's no way we can break even! I will have to coax and pamper Wifey until she's satisfied if I upset her.”

Even though Bailey was thrilled by his reaction, her tears dripped down her face even more heavily. Artemis was left with no choice. He reached out to cradle her head, leaned in to kiss her eyes, and said in a muffled voice,

“Hey, please stop crying, okay? I feel like my heart is going to break if you keep on crying.”

“You're bullying me.”

This was the first time Bailey spoke to Artemis after he had knocked her unconscious. Although her words were accusations aimed at Artemis, the man was delighted by her reaction.

“Yes, yes, yes, I bullied you. I'm such a jerk. When we get back, I'll kneel down before you as punishment, okay? Please don't be mad.”

Bailey stared at him intently, narrowing her eyes as she asked, “You've been giving me the cold shoulder all day.

Tell me. Who taught you that trick?” Artemis replied hurriedly, “Zeke! He was the one who suggested that stupid idea to me.”

Bailey couldn't hold back any longer as she burst out laughing at Artemis' evident nervousness.

He's willing to try any tricks to make me happy, not bothering that his reputation and ego are gone in the process. Isn't this enough to show his love for me?

Bailey just wanted to tease. Fortunately, Artemis did not disappoint her because he let her experience the warmth of being loved and pampered by someone.

“Wifey, it's cold outside. Why don't I carry you back to the headquarters?” Artemis probed.

She has quite a temper, so she will make things hard for me whenever she feels petty. I will never try to provoke her again in the future. Pleasing Wifey is more complicated than traversing through a hail of bullets.

Bailey hummed in agreement. She wrapped her arms around his neck and buried her head in his chest. Listening to Artemis' heartbeat, she asked in a muffled voice, “Artemis, you've already survived the jaws of death. We don't have to die anymore, right?”

Artemis stood up with Bailey in his embrace. He could feel that the woman had become skinnier, for he felt no weight as he held her.

“Yes, I won't die. Since I've been given the hopes to live, I'll naturally fight on till the end. I don't care about the afterlife. To me, seizing the present moment is the best!” Bailey smiled, and her eyes twinkled with amusement.

“It seems like a lifetime had passed when I regained consciousness. Luckily, you are still with me.”

Artemis walked toward the main hall, and as he approached the steps, he said leisurely, “I never intended to leave you alone in this world. Before I went for bloodletting, I made arrangements with your brother. If I wake up, everything will be fine. But if I can't, then you shall not regain consciousness forever.” Bailey grinned.

“I know. The moment I opened my eyes, I guessed what was on your mind. That's why I had a feeling that you had safely passed the critical stage. Otherwise, I wouldn't have woken up.”

Artemis couldn't help but laugh. This woman was much more perceptive than he had imagined. Explaining the situation to her was indeed a bit redundant.

“By the way, is the toxin research done yet? I know you're eager to go to Moranta to save Juliana. Give me the toxin to me sooner, so once I'm cured, you can leave without worries.”

Bailey looked up at him, her affectionate gaze wandering freely over Artemis' face. Artemis' face had already been etched into her very flesh and soul.

She would never forget him, even if he passed on into another world. Artemis felt her passionate emotions and slowly halted in his tracks. He lowered his head, meeting Bailey's eyes in mid-air. At that moment, they deeply felt that they had become one.

Emotions overwhelmed Artemis. He couldn't help himself but lowered his head to kiss Bailey. His thin lips lingered on hers, tracing the graceful outline of her lips.

“Cameron was as happy as a clam after you gave him a painting. I didn't want to dampen his enthusiasm because I get to kiss and pamper you unscrupulously.”

Bailey playfully tapped his chest, teasing, “Someone's getting cocky, huh?”

After saying that, she extended her arm and pushed his head away.

“Stop messing around! I have something important to tell you.”

Artemis wanted to kiss her again.

He replied, “I think kissing you is the most important thing. There's nothing more important than this matter in the entire world.”

Bailey reached out and gently blocked Artemis' lips. A tingling, moist sensation radiated from Bailey's palm the next moment as a thought raced through her mind.
