Chapter 817

Using Chad's method, it took less than two minutes.

Jade finally sat up in bed, her hair all over the place. "Mom, I'm exhausted, and you're not even letting me catch my breath. Guess being a daughter-in-law doesn't count for much, huh?" Molly sighed, feeling a bit put out, "When you were just my daughter, you were the center of my world. Now you're okay with stifling me."

Coleen was momentarily speechless at her daughter's playful complaint. "Chad put me up to it."

Hearing Chad's name, Molly perked up. "Is he back?"

Molly got up from the couch, glancing around but not seeing any trace of Chad. If he were back, he'd definitely have carried her to bed.

Coleen just shook her head when Molly looked her way.

Molly reached for her phone, ready to call him, but noticed an unread message. Opening it, she saw a late-night text and picture from Chad. "Oh, I must've conked out by 2 a.m." She thought she'd manage to stay up all night.

Molly headed upstairs, glanced at the unmade bed, gave it a couple of shakes to clear away the lingering vibe from last night, and then went to freshen up in the bathroom. Morning came, and Chad sent another message, but Molly didn't respond.

Mia woke up with her little one snuggled close, realizing her husband wasn't in the room. She lay there with Henry, not wanting to get out of bed. Henry was fussing to get up and play, but Mia had to be mindful of her wrist-it still hurt if she held him too long. She could deal with the pain, but her biggest fear was not holding Henry tight enough, worrying someone might take him from her.

To distract him, Mia cuddled her son and video-called her sister, Mo.
