Chapter 980

Two hours later.

At the usual police station, in a place that's become all too familiar, sat someone who hadn't said a word.

The teacher from the prep class was anxiously trying to explain things to the police, hoping to get the students back. They kept repeating that it was their fault for not keeping a better watch, with exams just around the corner, and all of this because of a small spat. When the situation got out of hand and tempers flared, ignoring the teacher's efforts to calm things down, one student, seeing how things were spiraling, quietly dialed the police.

By the time the cops arrived, Quill was still ranting, "Who the hell called the fuzz?"

A bald girl sitting in the corner raised her hand, "You were disrupting my study time."

This bald girl, along with Mia, was known as someone not to be messed with at the prep school.

So, here they were again.

Easton looked at the familiar face, rubbing his own in disbelief. Why is it always her? Mrs. Andre, the lady of the manor, not exactly the ethereal Mrs. Cedillo type but still, could she just avoid these brawls?

"Should I call your family? I have their number right here."

Mia pressed her lips together, shaking her head like a good kid.

Easton tried again, "How about any neighbors?"

Another head shake.

"And who should we notify then?"

Mia bit her lip, glancing at the teachers still trying to clear things up, "Let's just wait it out." Anyway, she had other ideas now.

Easton handed the file to Annie, "Officer Chapman, can you take over?"

Annie stood in front of Mia, and for some reason, their eye contact always felt like they were partners in crime.

Jamie was tending to Denny's bruises. Quill sat swollen-faced, squinting at Mia, haunted by the memory of being slammed onto the table. How did the sweet girl he once liked turn out so fierce? "Quill, right? I won't mess up your arm since exams are coming, but you need to learn a lesson."

Initially, everyone was holding Quill back from hitting, but it soon turned into holding Mia back from swinging.
