Chapter 1501

The mother and son showered each other with kisses. Andre Cedillo, fresh from his shower, watched his wife and their little boy, clearly inseparable. "Henry, come over here," he called.

But the more Andre called, the more stubborn Henry became. He burrowed even deeper into his mother's arms, refusing to budge-clearly trying to get a rise out of his dad.

Eventually, Andre swept in and grabbed Henry by his little feet, hauling him into his own arms. Henry just giggled, all sunshine and squeals. "I love Daddy too!" he chirped.

Mia climbed out of bed to give her husband a kiss. Henry, ever the opportunist, puckered up for one of his own. He cupped his father's face with his tiny hands, insisting that Dad accept his full-force affection.

Meanwhile, over at the Byrne house, little Wayne was sobbing his heart out.

Other moms were already home from work, but his own mom still hadn't come back to scoop him up.

He clung to his dad's hand, toddling toward the front door, his cries of "Mama, mama" echoing through the house.

Chad Byrne paced the living room, his son in his arms, doing lap after lap. But there was no reasoning with a toddler who just wanted his mom-Wayne didn't care about business trips or adult explanations.

The whole family tried to comfort him, but nothing worked. At last, Chad took his exhausted boy back to the bedroom. At some point in the dead of night, Wayne cried himself to sleep curled up in his father's arms, refusing to let anyone else near him.

Wayne couldn't truly settle. Even while sleeping, he clung to his dad, flinching at every small
