Conner stood there, hands on his hips, his suit jacket all bunched up, looking both wild and in charge. "Doctor, how much longer until he's back on his feet?"

The doctor answered, "Honestly, he could be discharged now."

"Nope. He's staying another week. He's not leaving until he's a hundred percent." Mr. Nettleton acted like the hospital was free, insisting Dean stick around.

Then Mr. Nettleton pulled his wife along toward the OB-GYN. "Annie, since we're already here, let's have them check on you and the baby too, just to be safe."

"Nice try. I'm not taking advantage like that," Annie rolled her eyes.

While they whispered down the hallway, inside the room, Maja and Dean shared a look.

"Maja, let me see your hand."

She lifted her arm, scar and all, for Dean to see. "Honestly, I'm fine like this."

"When I get home, I'll work on something to help with the scar," Dean said gently.

Maja fussed with his blanket, tucking him in. "I'll never be able to repay you for saving my life."
