Mars munched on his roast chicken, sounding offhand as he asked, "So, that guy you had dinner with last time-how long have you two been dating?"

Milka barely glanced up. "He's just a business partner."

Mars smirked. "A business partner who sends roses? That's a new one."

Milka shot him a look. "Why do you care, anyway?"

Mars just shrugged, piling more food onto his fork. "Hey, you're right, it's not my business. But maybe check if there's any news in your belly-I'm still waiting to hear I'll be an uncle."

Milka rolled her eyes and focused on her food.

Of course, they both knew she wasn't pregnant. Months had passed—if there was any news, they'd have heard it by now. And Milka, being a woman, definitely knew her monthly cycle hadn't missed a beat.

It was a flimsy excuse—just a way for them to stay in touch.

After dinner, Mars drove Milka back to her apartment. "If you like that little guy so much, we can drop him off at school together when term starts."
