She stepped out, leaving Anya to take the blame.

Guilt tugged at Anya as she faced Ms. Zheng's frosty glare. She wanted to say the report wasn't even hers to handle, but with everyone watching and the tension thick in the air, she knew saying anything would only make things worse. So she swallowed her pride and murmured, "I'm sorry, Ms. Zheng. It won't happen again."

A few moments later, the person in charge of printing came by, passing out the materials to everyone. With that, the meeting finally got underway.

After it wrapped up, that same coworker made a show of saying to Anya, right in front of Ms. Zheng, "Everybody messes up when they're new. Don't stress-Ms. Zheng's super understanding, she won't hold it against you."

Ms. Zheng nodded, visibly satisfied with the flattery, then strode away.

Anya was left feeling wronged, but there was nobody she could talk to about it.

At lunch, Anya sat in the café, barely picking at her food. She kept opening her phone to Leo's page, checking it every few minutes, then putting it down with a sigh.
