Now, seeing Henry's little face scrunched up as he tried so hard not to cry, everyone went quiet. Even Teddy, who was usually the strictest, finally caved. “Andre, maybe let's wait until this afternoon?”

Andre shook his head. "My boy's brave. Yesterday, he promised me and Mia he wouldn't cry this morning so he could come to school and play. He'll keep his promise, right, kiddo?"

Henry nodded from his dad's arms.

A moment later, his sad eyes drifted over to his mom, who looked like her heart was breaking for him.
