Jamie was completely at ease. "Mia, I'll stay with you."

"Aren't you going to see Jason?" Mia grinned, teasing her.

Jamie blushed a little. "Jason's doing an internship at a law firm—he's super busy right now, so I figured I'd give him some space. Oh, and did you hear? Felicity didn't go home for the summer. She's still here in Havenbrook."

"I know! We actually ran into each other. Honestly, Katie's amazing-so professional. No wonder Jason respects her."

They strolled down the tree-lined road, chatting as they went. It was almost half an hour before they reached the side gate of Henry's school, the campus fenced in with shiny metal bars and a new security system.

Mia had been here before, so everything felt familiar. She and Jamie started wandering around the neighborhood, taking in the sights.

Henry's school was huge, with beautiful grounds. Even the street outside was lovely, lined with flowerbeds and old trees-everything looked so peaceful.

It wasn't time for school pickup yet, so the streets were quiet. The two of them walked in the shade, catching up and making plans for the future.

Jamie often thought Mia didn't fit the image of Mrs. Cedillo-the business mogul's wife. With Jamie, she was just another girl: quick to laugh, down-to-earth, sometimes gossipy, sometimes silly. It was always easy being around her; she made you feel like you belonged.

And yet, Mia was Andre's wife-the darling of a powerful family, and now a mom too. It was hard to believe sometimes.
