Chapter 62 A Single, Two- letter Word

“Hey, you always do this!” Shirley scolded Corynn lightheartedly, feigning anger. “You always play deaf when we talk about this.”

As expected, Corynn grabbed her blanket and pulled it over her face, pretending not to hear her mother’s

complaints.

Shirley promptly yanked the blanket away and said with a pout, “I’m serious! Jason’s a good man. You can’t make him wait too long!”

Hoping that agreeing perfunctorily would get her mother off her back, Corryn begrudgingly nodded in response. “Just… think about it carefully,” Shirley said with a resigned sigh. “I’ll come back this afternoon to check on you. With an army of bodyguards standing outside, Shirley felt at ease leaving her daughter alone at the hospital. Corynn lay there, eyes closed, contemplating Shirley’s words.
